Driving at Different Vehicle to Campus- obtain a free hangtag at Parking Department,  or at Police Dispatch when Parking is closed, for your replacement vehicle while your registered vehicle is being repaired.    Displaying the hangtag without the decal is insufficient and will result in a $15 fine.  You may park outside of the Police building, flashers on, to obtain a substitute permit.
Forgotten Hangtag – if you forget to bring your hangtag, obtain a free one for the day at Parking Department.   The decal alone is insufficient.  You may park outside of the Police building, flashers on, to obtain a substitute permit.
Lost/Stolen/Damaged Permits-The University is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged permits. However, it must be reported to the Parking Department immediately. Replacement hangtags can be obtained at Parking for $15 fee. The original hangtag will be invalidated and, if found, may not be used or a $250 fine and $50 boot fee will apply.
Unpaid Citations- Three unpaid citations may result in a vehicle being “booted”. All tickets and the $50 boot fee must be paid in order to have the boot removed.

How to Display Permits

A Rutgers parking permit is a two part permit system: a hangtag to be suspended from your rearview mirror and a small color-matched decal for the rear, driver’s side window.

Both your hangtag and window decal must be displayed as shown:

Updates to parking information are e-mailed to your @camden.rutgers.edu address and posted on the Camden Parking webpage. If you will not be accessing your Rutgers email address often, be sure to link it to the email account you do use since it is our only means of communicating with everyone.

Handicap and Temporary Disabled

A current  Rutgers Handicapped hangtag or decal is required at all times.

Permanent Disabled:
State placards and handicapped license plates alone are not accepted as evidence of a disability by the permit holder.  These are accepted by Rutgers Parking department for issuance of Rutgers Handicapped designation.

Temporary Disabled:  Provide the Rutgers Parking Department with a letter from your Doctor indicating the nature of your disability and the amount of time you’ll be temporarily disabled.  If you do not already have a parking permit, A Temporary Handicapped permit can be purchased for $5.00 per day.
Handicap spaces are available in Lots 1, 2, 12, 13 and 14 regardless of the type of regular Rutgers permit held. The spaces designated with signs and stalls by the main entrance of the Dorms in Lot #12 are reserved for handicap residents and their guests only.

Other Information

Disabled Vehicles -disabled vehicles should not obstruct traffic flow or endanger safety. The vehicle should be moved within 24 hours or will be subject to towing at the owner’s expense. Notify the Parking Department immediately of any disabled vehicles.

Non-Transferrable -This permit belongs ONLY to the person and vehicles registered.  It may not be transferred to another individual or to an unregistered vehicle.  Vehicle owners/operators are expected to abide by the state registration laws while parked on University properties.  Vehicles without license plates or valid registration will be towed at the owner’s expense. Vehicles should be parked within stalls that are marked.  Otherwise, a space should be sought within another authorized parking lot.  The Main City Lot 11 (formerly Rutgers Lot 7) always has space to accommodate vehicles.  You are not guaranteed to find a space where you want when you want it. The Parking Department reserves the right to close any parking area.  Notification will be made by e-mail.  Vehicles parked within a closed area are subject to ticketing and/or towing.

Please make sure your vehicle is locked and valuable items are not visible.
The University assumes no responsibility for the security of vehicles or their contents.

The fact that a person parks in violation and does not receive a citation does not mean that parking rules are not in effect, or that a violation did not occur.

Notes left on vehicles to avoid citations are not acceptable.  Come to the Parking Office to resolve the issue and avoid ticketing.

The registrant of a vehicle is responsible for all violations identified with that vehicle, even when that person is not driving. If the citation remains unanswered further penalties will be assessed.  Payments may be made online. Appeals must be filed within 10 days; the form is online.
